Summer Fun Result In An Injury? What To Do If Your Child Is Injured By A BB Gun

Lawrence Ross

Now that summer is here, kids are going to be out playing in the neighborhood. All the outdoor activities increase the risk that your child will be injured. This is especially true if your child is involved in activities that can be inherently dangerous. One activity that has a high chance of injury involves BB guns. Unfortunately, BB guns can cause serious injuries, especially if adult supervision isn't provided. If your child has suffered serious injuries as the result of negligent BB gun handling, you need to take action as soon as possible. Here are four steps you need to take to care for your child.

File a Police Report

If your child was injured by a BB gun, file a police report as soon as possible. This is especially important if you believe that negligence was involved. BB guns should never be used by children, especially when adults aren't present. Filing a police report will give law enforcement officials the opportunity to investigate the incident. The police report will also be helpful if you need to file a personal injury claim.

Seek Medical Attention

If your child has sustained injuries from a BB gun incident, seek immediate medical care. BB guns can do significant damage, especially if the injuries involve the eyes. You might not think that the injuries are severe. But that might not be the case. There could be damage that you're not able to see with the naked eye. That's why medical care is so important.

Get Copies of Security Footage

If your child was shot with a BB gun while out in the neighborhood, ask your neighbors for copies of security footage. Many of your neighbors may have security cameras installed in their homes. If they do, the footage can provide evidence during the incident that caused injury to your child. If your neighbors won't voluntarily provide copies of the security footage, you'll need to seek legal assistance.

Seek Legal Counsel Right Away

Finally, if your child suffered injuries when someone shot them with a BB gun, seek legal counsel as soon as possible. You may be able to receive compensation for your child's injuries, especially if your attorney can prove negligence. Be sure to provide the attorney with as much evidence as you have, including any witness statements you're able to get.

If your child has been injured by a BB gun, speak to a personal injury attorney near you as soon as possible.

About Me
contractors - protect yourself from legal liabilities

My husband has worked in the construction industry for nearly twenty years. Three years ago, he decided to open his own business performing renovation work. Having so much experience helped him land clients and showed him that he has to protect himself from the clients that aren't so easy to please. We started working with an attorney in the beginning to have all of the contracts drawn up and have called when things go badly with clients. This blog will show you what you need to do to protect yourself from legal liabilities when you work as a contractor in today's world.
